ArcoMalarkey
Titch bows whilst Johnny strums, the archetypal combination that stands the test of time for traditional music. But that’s just the start, with loops and beats ArcoMalarkey add Cello and bass lines to underpin the melody, and percussion to push up the rhythm. From Balkan to Bluegrass, Scottish to Scandinavian, stopping off in Dorset and Donegal on the way, they perform tunes from many fiddle traditions influenced by a plethora of players from around the globe.
Titch first started scraping away at school aged 8, at 14 he found a love of traditional music, aged 17 he joined a medieval band and toured London and the South, then at 21 started a Ceilidh band that are still blasting around the Dorset countryside. Along the way he has done recording session and dep gigs for many local bands from indie to pop, even poetry with James Earl Jones!
John first took up guitar
Titch & John ironically met and started chatting at The Square & Compass in Worth Matravers back in nineteen ninety something, since then they’ve probably spent more time there listening and performing than any other venue. Titch invited Johnny to his local session at The Coventry Arms; from those days they have travelled and performed all over the country and a few trips to Europe in various bands and formats. ArcoMalarkey is the project that compiles all their experiences and musical passions into one collective space, so join them with open ears, open hearts and enjoy the raucous and sometimes sublime tunes that is ArcoMalarkey
